Suffolk farmer celebrates cancer remission during Pigasso road trip
10th May 2024
A Suffolk farmer is getting ready for his Pigasso road trip around the UK to fundraise for the charities that supported him during his cancer treatment.
Nathan Lister from Redgrave was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma three years ago and is now in remission.
The self-employed farm engineer came up with an unusual challenge to thank the two charities that supported him during his illness.
Pigasso road trip
Mr Lister has renovated an old Citroen Picasso into what is now called ‘Pigasso’ and will celebrate his 25th birthday by driving to John O’Groats in Scotland before heading south to Land’s End and then back to Suffolk.
Funds raised during his journey will go to Cancer Research UK and Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.
While talking to the BBC News, he said: “I was offered a cheap old banger of a car with no MOT on it, which I’ve decided to turn into a pig, which is the obvious thing to do.
“I trained as a car mechanic before becoming a farmer, so making it roadworthy was easy, but making it into a pig is something you can’t just buy bits off of the shelf for.
“I’ve got some brilliant mates who are very clever and helped me make bits [like the metal snout].
“It’s all come together really well.”
Mr Lister will be leaving on his road trip on Saturday 11th May. His return is expected to be during the Rickinghall Classic Car Show on Sunday 19th May. Farmers Guide wishes him the best on his long journey!
