Six-year-old boy died in quad bike incident on farm

Tributes have been paid to a six-year-old boy, Joe Hegarty, who was killed in a quad bike accident on a farm in Northern Ireland.
The tragic accident happened in Ballynagard Road area, near Ballycastle, on 16th August.
The family asked those attending the funeral, which took place on 20th August, to wear bright sports tops to honour Joe’s love for the GAA and sport.
His love for sport was a theme throughout the ceremony, with his loved ones laying his GAA jersey, hurling stick and helmet, tennis racket and football at the altar, the Belfast Telegraph reported.
Number one fan
Joe was an avid supporter of County Antrim-based Carey Faughs Hurling Club. Its team described him as the “club’s number one fan”.
They added: “Joe was a character and his light shone very brightly, he made friends wherever he went. It wouldn’t be often that you would see Joe in anything else but his Carey gear.
“All at Carey Faughs are heartbroken at the devastating news of Joe Hegarty’s passing.
“We are a community sharing in their heartbreak and hope that we can give them enough love and support to help them through their unimaginable loss.”
A Health and Safety Executive spokesperson confirmed that the regulator is aware of the incident and is liaising with the police.
The police said they were treating it as a sudden death.
