West Country Farming & Machinery Show: what to expect at the inaugural event
4th January 2023
Machinery launches, thought-provoking seminars, a live auction and free breakfast will be welcoming visitors to the West Country Farming & Machinery Show, a new free-to-attend event for the South West.
Taking place on 22 February at Westpoint Arena Exeter, the show will feature the latest products and services of agricultural companies large and small under one roof. Visitors will have the opportunity to sample new inventions in the industry and keep abreast with the latest developments in farming.
Among the new launches will be the Puma 260 CVXDrive tractor from Case IH and the utilitarian 4X4 Ineos Grenadier, brought to the show by Ineos partner Ocean Group.
Other machinery featured at the show will include Manitou material handlers MLT 741 and MLT 630 which combine performance with comfort and cost-efficiency. There will also be dedicated demo areas where visitors can witness handlers in action from national and global brands such as Case IH, Merlo, John Deere, Manitou, Zetor and JCB.
What’s more, exhibitors Masons Kings will be offering visitors charity rides on a John Deere 865M Gator using the 4×4 track near the showground. All donations from the rides will go towards supporting Devon Air Ambulance.
Organised by the publishers of Agricultural Trader, Profi, Farm Machinery and Crop Production Magazine, the West Country Farming & Machinery Show will also host a number of seminars on topics relevant to farmers in the South West today.
Talks will include:
Alternatives to artificial fertiliser (sponsored by Edwards Agricultural Supplies | Soil Advisory UK): Speakers from independent research organisations, water companies and commercial outlets producing fertiliser from sewage and other water streams will update farmers on the products currently available in the UK and what’s in the pipeline.
Alternative fuels for farm machinery (sponsored by Gavin Dixon): Presentations will explore alternative fuels to power agricultural equipment such as methane, hydrogen and electricity.
Speakers will include farmers with experience on operating machines using alternative energy sources as well as representatives from companies developing new technology.
On-farm energy production (sponsored by Belltown Power): An update on new technologies available for electricity production and storage on-farm, with speakers to potentially include an energy broker and representatives from companies supplying the new tech.
Road rules and red diesel (sponsored by Mitchell and Webber): A seminar featuring a dedicated Q&A session led by the National Association of Agricultural Contractors (NAAC) and HMRC where attendants can ask questions regarding new red diesel rules and farm vehicles on the road.
In addition, the show will be hosting a live machinery auction courtesy of Edward Buckland Auctioneers. Items for sale will include large and small tractors, farm and plant machinery and other vehicles.
Visitors arriving to the show early will even receive a free bacon roll courtesy of Case IH. Breakfast vouchers can be picked up from the Case IH exhibition trailer next to the entrance.
Last but not least, the West Country Farming & Machinery Show will also be offering BASIS, FACTS and NRoSO CPD points to attendants.
Those travelling to the event can easily access Westpoint Arena from the M5 or A303, as well as Exeter St David’s train station, the Central Bus Station or Exeter Airport.
