Dog owner wanted following attack on 5-week-old lamb
10th April 2025
North Wales Police Rural Crime Team has issued a plea asking the public to help find a dog owner following an incident that saw a lamb being attacked by an off-lead dog.
The incident happened between 4.30 and 4.45pm on Wednesday, 9th April, on farmland just off the coastal path between Lligwy and Moelfre.
The five-week-old lamb suffered significant injuries as a result of the attack.
A spokesperson for NWP Rural Crime Team said: “Sadly the dog owners, who were present during the attack, have not come forward to report the incident.
“Frustratingly, livestock worrying by dogs continues to occur on a regular basis. Livestock worrying is when a dog attacks or chases livestock on agricultural land or the dog is at large in a field with livestock.
“This can result in significant injury or suffering and, in the worst cases, the death of the animals involved. It is a criminal offence that can mean the dog owner could face prosecution and severe financial penalties.
“It is also important to remind dog owners that any dogs found to be worrying livestock can also be shot by the landowner.
“Once again, we urge dog owners to be responsible and considerate and to ensure dogs are kept under close control in areas where livestock are present.”
If you have any information which will assist the officers in identifying the dog owners, please contact 101 quoting reference number C050185.
