Festive support pours in for farming mental health charity
25th December 2020
Rural mental health charity YANA (You Are Not Alone) has recently received support from a range of different sources, including festive lights on Ben Burgess’s machinery displays in Suffolk and Norfolk.
At a time when festive sparkle and cheer is much in need, Ben Burgess branches in Norfolk and Suffolk have added Christmas lights to their machinery displays, incorporating farming charity YANA to help raise awareness of its work.
Lights are on from 4pm each day and the depots are offering a range of gifts and toys.
YANA, which helps those in farming and rural businesses who are affected by stress and depression, has also received support from artist Kate Batchelor, who set herself the challenge of 100 drawings in 100 days. Her book, which supports YANA, is now available and depicts rural life, wildlife and traditional crafts.
Finally, the Suffolk Community Foundation has awarded YANA a grant of £3,400 from the Men’s Mental Health Community Fund, allowing it to offer counselling for men connected with farming and rural businesses in Suffolk.
Whilst YANA provides fully funded counselling for anyone over 18 in the rural sector, men are particularly susceptible to poor mental health. A call to YANA’s confidential helpline on 0300 323 0400 is all it takes, if appropriate, to put the counselling in place within a few days.
YANA offers specific help for those involved with farming or other rural businesses in Norfolk, Suffolk and Worcestershire, providing confidential support and counselling; building understanding of mental health; and investing in Mental Health First Aid training and suicide prevention.
If you are involved with farming or another rural business in any way and are feeling low, or if you are worried about a member of your family, a colleague or a friend, call YANA’s helpline on 0300 323 0400 for confidential support, or email helpline@yanahelp.org.
