Jersey farming business calls ‘pay for what you take’ after products were stolen

Jersey royal potato grower has issued a “disheartening” message to its customers amid its products got stolen on two occasions.
Carré Farms’ stall located next to a bus stop on La Grande Route De Saint Lawrence in Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands between England and France, was robbed last weekend.
The stall, like many others on the island, is unmanned and open 24/7, relying on customers’ goodwill to pay for products by putting money in an honesty box.

The Carré Farms owners posted on their social media: “One thing that makes Jersey so unique and special is the fact that there are honesty huts located around the island.
“We added a new honesty hut to make our potatoes more accessible for all islanders, so it really saddens us that we have had 9 bags taken over two days without being paid for.
“Please remember to pay for what you take. We work extremely hard and find things like this very disheartening. Thank you for your continued support.”
The farming business located in the west of the island has been passed from generation to generation since 1978.
