Farmer aids in rescue of stranded driver 

A farmer in Cambridgeshire has helped rescue a member of the public whose vehicle was stranded near a water-filled ditch.

A man in his 60s has been rescued in Alconbury, Cambridgeshire, after being found stranded in a vehicle close to a water-filled ditch.

The man had travelled from Yorkshire and was thought to have been in the car for around three hours before he was found.

A concerned farmer in the area spotted him and quickly called the emergency services.

With the help of the farmer, Cambridgeshire police, fire service and ambulance crews, the man was assisted from the vehicle.

He has been taken to hospital for treatment and his family contacted.
