Essex firefighters battle farm building blaze
27th January 2025
A fire broke out in a farm building near Marsh Road, Burnham on Crouch, on Friday (24th January).
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service battled a large farm building fire overnight after being called to the scene around 6.30pm.
The service confirmed the fire had been extinguished at 2pm the following day (25th January).
One crew remained on the scene monitoring and dampening down hot spots.
Locals were advised to shut their windows and doors to avoid smoke inhalation.
Station manager Scott Fretton said on Friday evening at 8.30pm: “The building is completely alight and firefighters are making steady progress, but expect to be here overnight.
“There is still a lot of low level smoke in the area so if you live nearby please keep your windows and doors shut.”
Relief crews from Harlow, Colchester, Clacton, Grays, Brentwood and Orsett remained to monitor the scene throughout the night.
There were no reported injuries, and an investigation will be carried out.
