Cumbria: 8-year-old boy died after being shot on farm

An eight-year-old boy died after he was shot in the head and face on a farm in Cumbria.
Cumbria Police confirmed that emergency services were called at around 2.50pm on Saturday, 28th September, to a farm in the Warcop area following a report that a child had been seriously injured by a firearm at the property.
Police and paramedics attended the scene and the firearm was secured.
The boy was taken to hospital by air ambulance, having suffered serious and life-threatening injuries to his head and face. Sadly, he died overnight.
Investigation continues
Officers arrested a man in his 60s at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
He was kept under arrest on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter until yesterday.
Cumbria Police has recently issued an update that the man has been bailed whilst officers continue with their investigations.
As officers continue with their enquiries, they are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the moments leading up to it to come forward.
