The head of security on Jeremy Clarkson’s farm has received a heartfelt outpouring of support from fans after revealing his prostate cancer diagnosis on the show.

Gerald has recently entered the world of affordable racehorse ownership with bay gelding The Mullet, named after his infamous hairstyle. The horse is trained in the Cotswolds by Charlie Longsdon.

The collaboration is now celebrating a tremendous success with all 3,000 shares, £60 each, selling out in just 50 days, resulting in a £28,500 donation to Prostate Cancer UK.

The Mullet’s new owners will also have the option to donate any prize money earnings to Prostate Cancer UK, who have been a huge support to Gerald and his family throughout his battle against the disease.

Back on track

Gerald has previously spoken about his diagnosis: “It was a shock – but everyone has really supported me. I received tremendous support from family, friends and Prostate Cancer UK – which was also a lifeline.

“I made it through, and I’m now cancer-free. I wanted to do something joyful for a good cause.”

The star of Clarkson’s Farm added that he is “over the moon” following the success of the syndicate.

“I still get people asking me to buy shares! Now I’ll have to tell them no! Maybe we’ll have to get a second horse,” Gerald continued.

Trainer of The Mullet, Charlie Longsdon, added: “It’s fantastic news. It’s a pleasure to be involved in this great initiative set up by Old Gold Racing and Gerald, and I’m delighted to see the money we’ve been able to raise for Prostate Cancer UK so far.

“The Mullet has had a little break and is starting his pre-training next week. We should have him ready to hit the track in the spring, so we’re very excited about that.”

While all 3,000 shares are now sold out, you can still join the waiting list for the next time any become available here.
