Festive tractor run raises thousands despite Storm Darragh
13th December 2024
Thousands turned out to support the Isle of Man Young Farmers festive tractor runs, which took place despite the storm and raised vital funds for charity.
Two festive tractor runs organised by Isle of Man Young Farmers drew in thousands of people and raised significant sums for The Children’s Centre and the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
The first run in the south of the island went ahead with 45 tractors on Friday 6th despite poor weather, but the Saturday run was postponed until the following day due to Storm Darragh.
However, organisers said the Sunday run attracted 75 tractors and thousands of people who came out to support them.
They commented: ‘All our members and locals from the farming community who took part went to so much effort to decorate their tractors, they all put on such a good show!’
The group has raised over £6,000 on JustGiving alone – smashing its target of £5K – on top of bucket collections and sponsorship, which are still being counted.
Funds raised will be split across the two charities.
The tractor run has been going for the past six years and has so far raised over £80,000 for various local charities. To donate, visit: https://bit.ly/3VBAmEq
