13-year-old girl charged after deliberate barn fire

Police Scotland have confirmed the update after a barn fire in Alness, Ross-shire in August.

A 13-year-old girl has been charged in connection with a wilful fire at Caplich Quarry, at around 7.30pm on Saturday, 24th August.

The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and there were no reports of any injuries.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 7.12pm on Saturday, 24th August, to reports of a fire at Caplich Farm, Alness.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the scene where firefighters extinguished the fire.

“Crews left at 5.49pm on Sunday, 25th August after ensuring the area was made safe.”

Police Scotland said a report will be submitted to the Children’s Reporter and Procurator Fiscal.
