He has since been released from Thorpe Wood Police Station, Peterborough on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention whilst also under the influence of drugs.
The driver of a blue Toyota Hybrid, 66 year old Phillip Moore, was taken to Peterborough City Hospital in an ambulance but unfortunately died en route. Cambridge City Football Club said Mr Moore had been a “lifelong supporter” and a minute’s silence will be held at Saturday’s home game against Sutton Coldfield in tribute to the fallen fan.
Two lorries were also involved in the crash on the Isle of Ely Way, but neither of the drivers were injured, Cambridgeshire Police say.
A proposal from Highways England has revealed that some dual carriageways in the country will be transformed into A-roads that are motorway-standard. Tractors, cyclists, horses, pedestrians and mopeds would be banned in the new plans – targeting slow-moving vehicles and more vulnerable road users to improve both safety and traffic flow.
Police are appealing for witnesses who saw the A141 collision or have any information regarding the incident – call 101, quoting incident 43, Nov 28th.
