Meet the new Polaris Ranger Diesel – built for farmers, by farmers
11th September 2024
The updated Ranger Diesel was inspired by its users, and is specially adapted to the demands of UK farmers, Polaris explains.
On any farm, it’s vital to have the right tools that help make everyday jobs easier, and that can withstand the long, gruelling hours.
The “ultimate” agricultural UTV – the Polaris Ranger Diesel – was born from an understanding of the hardships of farming, the manufacturer says.
Using real-life customer scenarios specifically in agricultural environments across the UK, Polaris Off Road Vehicles was able to engineer a machine that meets these customers’ expectations.
The Ranger Diesel is Polaris’ most durable, dependable and capable diesel-powered UTV to date.
Developed using customer feedback
For more than 20 years, Polaris has been designing and building off-road side-by-side vehicles.
In 2019, the company launched the new updated Ranger Diesel platform – a vehicle representing years of research and development, creating “the ultimate agricultural vehicle”, inspired by its users.
The inception of the Ranger Diesel began with customer feedback.
Polaris discovered that farmers in the UK put significantly more hours on their vehicles in tougher conditions than their North American counterparts.
In response, the manufacturer developed a machine specially adapted to these demands.
With customer feedback at the heart of its design, testing the new vehicle in real-life scenarios played a crucial role in preparing the Ranger Diesel for production.
To do this, Polaris enlisted the help of existing customers to drive improvements in line with real-life requirements.
In July 2018, Polaris placed a number of pre-production Ranger Diesels with specific UK customers to aid with the development process.
The aim was to make sure the Diesel performed in real-life situations, and the customers certainly put the machine through its paces – with fantastic results.
All the customers were overly happy with the product and the decision to put the Diesel into production followed in February 2019.
Since then, the Ranger Diesel has thrived in the UK market and continues to serve farmers up and down the country.
New additions for 2025
Meeting the objectives identified from the research, the focus for the new Ranger Diesel was on improved reliability, durability, performance, and refinement.
The Diesel’s engine offers extreme durability and enhanced power, built for the toughest tasks.
For 2025, it features a new Gen 2 transmission for smoother gear changes, and with an upgraded service interval of 200 hours or 2,000 miles, the Diesel ensures low cost of ownership and less downtime meaning you can spend more time completing tasks.
The upgraded 2025 model also features a restyled front end with a new bumper and grille for added robustness.
Improved performance and capabilities
Knowing the demands of UK farmers, the Ranger was built to handle the job at hand – and every job after that – with class-leading capabilities.
Boasting an impressive towing capacity of 1,134kg and a payload capacity of 720kg – capable only scratches the surface, Polaris reckons.
The Ranger Diesel also has the highest ground clearance in its class, at 33cm, allowing you to tackle the toughest jobs by easily navigating over obstacles and through ruts.
Further delivering the capabilities required, the Ranger Diesel features on-demand all-wheel drive (AWD), meaning all four wheels engage automatically when the vehicle requires more traction and revert to two-wheel drive when it doesn’t, ideal for those wetter, slipperier days.
The newly upgraded electric power steering (EPS) enables all-day riding with less fatigue, while Polaris-installed technology like the Engine Braking System (EBS) with Active Descent Control (ADC) manages downhill braking for smooth, controlled descents on steep declines, with or without a load.
Deluxe version
Following the great success of the Ranger Diesel, Polaris launched the Ranger Diesel Deluxe in 2022.
Offering a premium look and feel, the Diesel Deluxe features striking headlights for improved visibility in low-light conditions.
It also has upgraded 12in black aluminium wheels with 27in 6-ply Maxxis tyres, and an interior with an upgraded steering wheel, accent trim, premium branding, and all-new contoured seats offering superior refinement, additional bolstering, and next-level comfort.
Best-selling model
Polaris offers over 200 engineered accessories to enhance every ride with the new Ranger Diesel.
From cab systems to winches and ploughs, there’s an accessory that can make the Ranger work even harder when it is needed most.
Polaris made a commitment to get it right the first time, and the hard work has paid off, as the Ranger Diesel is now their best-selling model in the UK.
With refined performance, enhanced ergonomics, and class-leading capabilities, the Ranger Diesel is built to perform at the highest standards for years to come.
Prices for the Ranger Diesel start at £17,899 excl. VAT.
