Versatile no-till seed drill from Väderstad

Väderstad’s Seed Hawk 600-900C is a versatile no-till seed drill available in 6, 8 and 9 metre working widths.

Vaderstad Seed Hawk

Equipped with tine coulters, the Seed Hawk creates precise seed slots, placing both seed and fertiliser on undisturbed soil.

A 7,000-litre hopper, divided into three compartments, adds flexibility for today’s farming needs. By incorporating the key benefits of tillage into a no-till system, Seed Hawk combines the best of both worlds, Väderstad says.

The key to success is creating fine tilth near the seed and ensuring a seed slot free from residues that could hinder early crop development.

Proven knife coulter system

Built around the proven Seed Hawk knife coulter system, the 600-900C brings advanced technology to the field. Its Fenix III metering system ensures an even product flow to both seed and fertiliser coulters, and operators benefit from the intuitive, iPad-based Väderstad E-Control system.

For added versatility in heavy crop residues or after cover crops, a front disc can be included to further enhance the Seed Hawk’s performance.

At the heart of the Seed Hawk drill are its individually mounted tine coulters. Each independent, dual-knife coulter – paired with a packer wheel – delivers precise depth placement for consistent crop quality and maximum yield potential.

The Seed Hawk coulter handles seedbed preparation, fertiliser and seed placement, as well as reconsolidation in a single pass. A simple pin adjustment enables quick and precise depth setting.

To ensure field performance when seeding directly in heavy crop residues or after cover crops, the Seed Hawk knife coulter can be complemented with a front disc as an option.

The front disc ensures thorough residue incorporation and can be adjusted independently. This versatility enhances seeding in cover crios, wheat stubble and light soil extending the machines range in high residue conditions.

Flexible hopper compartments

The machine’s 7,000-litre, triple-compartment hopper enables flexibility, with each compartment able to place product in either the seed or fertiliser knives, and even mix two products in the same airstream.

This feature allows, for instance, a starter fertiliser like phosphorus to be placed with the seed, promoting fast germination and root growth.

For added efficiency, the frame of the 8–9m models is split into three sections (two sections in the 6m version), allowing for sectional shut-off of seed and fertiliser in segments smaller than 3m.

This minimises input use and enables section lifting to avoid unnecessary ground disturbance on headlands. The system can be operated manually via the iPad or automatically through the Isobus Task Controller.
