A ‘one-stop-shop’ for hedge row management
16th September 2021
Farmers Guide spoke to NCD Equipment Limited, which was established six years ago, about its journey from importing the TMK tree shear, to developing a reputation as a one-stop-shop for all farmers’ hedgerow management equipment needs.
NCD Equipment Limited was founded in 2014 by Nick Dinsdale, who, after many years working on embankments with his chainsaw, felt there must be a safer and easier way to cut back trees and foliage.
Since then, the company has grown and built a reputation for the supply and service of exceptionally high-quality attachments, such as TMK tree shears, multi grabs, Rabaud mulchers, flail mowers, Auger Torque hedge trimmers and now Mecalac MCR/MWR excavators.
Mecalac excavators are the only excavators that come with two hydraulic pumps as standard, so you can operate the tracks and auxiliary hydraulics at the same time. This is perfect for operating flails and hedge trimmers on the move, NCD says.
NCD has a dedicated team that has many years’ experience in both the agricultural and specialist attachment market. The company says it can provide a one stop shop for the very best attachments to support you with all your hedge row management projects – offering national coverage through its established national dealer network.
When the company was first founded, Nick’s original vision was to find a tree shear and hire himself out as a contractor. After extensive research, he came across Finnish company TMK, and with his extensive operating experience immediately spotted the brilliance of the TMK Tree Shear.
He visited Finland to see it first-hand and was impressed with its simplicity and what it could achieve. TMK had no suppliers in the UK, leading Nick to spot an opportunity for a partnership that would ultimately change his original vision for his contracting business.
NCD went on to sell hundreds of TMK Tree Shears in the UK, Ireland and France. It has largely been popular as a useful piece of agricultural equipment – not only appealing to the forestry sector, but to farmers and utility companies as well.
