At one of the most exciting and crucial periods for the UK livestock industry, the Livestock Auctioneers’ Association (LAA) has this week announced expansion plans as it continues to play a leading role in representing the UK sector both in home and international markets.
At one of the most exciting and crucial periods for the UK livestock industry, the Livestock Auctioneers’ Association (LAA) has this week announced expansion plans as it continues to play a leading role in representing the UK sector both in home and international markets.
Heavily involved in all aspects of the UK livestock industry, the LAA is now expanding its team with the appointment of a new policy assistant to further increase its active role in policy negotiations and discussions with Ministers, Defra and other industry trade organisations on behalf of the UK red-meat sector.
Chris Dodds, LAA executive secretary states, “This truly is an exciting time for the UK livestock industry, and it is important that the sector gets the support and representation needed to make the most of the opportunities that are out there.”
The LAA plays an influential role as part of several key industry bodies, a noted example being the formation of the UK Livestock Brexit Group. Chaired by Mr Dodds, the group meets on a monthly basis to bring the livestock industry together, assisting in the development of future agricultural policies for the UK in all aspects of Brexit and future farming and support policies.
Mr Dodds adds, “As we help to develop our activities at the LAA on behalf of the sector, we are now actively searching for a policy assistant to help drive, develop and represent the growth in the sector. It is an opportunity to be part of the dynamic change the industry is going through, and be at the forefront of the development and innovation at this exciting time for the UK livestock industry.”
The LAA is looking for an experienced individual with in-depth knowledge of the workings of livestock auction marts and the livestock sector in general, and with a deep passion for the future of the whole industry and those who work within it.
