Are you ready for six months of slurry storage?
15th December 2023
As the end of 2023 looms we have seen extreme price movements in the dairy price. As the milk price has dropped, the pressure on dealing with the winter waste intensifies, says PFC.
For many farms, the 4–6-month storage requirements are not being met. If the NVZ rules are pushed countrywide, are you ready for six months of storage?
PFC offers the Serena pillow bags to bridge the gap. These are also extremely economical with today’s farm gate prices in mind, PFC says.
The bag will handle slurry from straw, paper and sawdust bedding, with sand being the only option not suitable. There is no crusting during storage so mixing before using the product is not required.
For longer term storage over three months, there may be some settling of the product so PFC recommends mixing the bag every three months.
The bag comes with two 6in outlets as standard, with additional fittings to suit your needs and also the option to stir the bag. The easiest way to stir the bag is to have an outlet on each of the front corners and use an umbilical pump to suck out and pump directly back in to circulate the bag.
Why wait until your current storage is about to overflow, causing damage and possible fines?
