Batchpasteuriser.com to showcase their pasteurisers at LAMMA 2023

With British farms continually squeezed by high input costs and low prices, selling ready-pasteurised milk straight to the consumer can substantially increase farm profits, according to Batchpasteuriser.com.

Despite the recent and long overdue improved payments from milk processors and distributors, profitability remains a challenge for dairy farmers due to ever increasing feed, fertiliser and other input costs.

Dairy farmers could double or even triple their earnings by supplying direct to the public, according to Batch Pasteuriser, which will showcase its products at LAMMA 2023.

At its Kent factory, the family-run company produces highly versatile machines that are capable of not only pasteurising milk, but also producing yoghurt, soft cheese, kefir and clotted cream, all from one machine.

Flavour is a key benefit, the company says, with the end product retaining the subtle, natural flavour of much sought-after artisan milk. This is achieved by using the low temperature, long time method (LTLT) of pasteurisation – around 63°C for 30 minutes.

Milk can then be legally retailed and distributed by any method – for example via vending machines, farm shops, delis, milk rounds etc, throughout the UK and in Europe.

Not only that, Batch Pasteuriser says the machines generally pay for themselves within a few months of purchase; and they have a high resale value.

Machines range from 50-1,000 litres in capacity; single or three-phase with variable speed motors and wifi data loggers. Other options include homogenisers, pH probes, additional stirrers and curd cutters.

The company carries its standard range ex stock but also designs and produces bespoke vessels. Lead times are generally 3-4 weeks ex-stock and 6-8 weeks bespoke. Finance options are available, or the company offers a one year ‘rent to buy’ scheme with a three-month opt out clause if you change your mind.

Batch Pasteuriser has been manufacturing pasteurisers and process vessels for smallholdings and dairies for over 25 years. Products are made in-house, almost entirely from British components, using the highest quality 304 and 316 grade stainless steel. Running costs are minimised as the vessels are highly insulated – a particular benefit in the current climate of high energy costs.

The company is part of a family-run business founded in 1981, specialising in the needs of smallholders and small farming enterprises. It still supplies supplements and dairy products, as well as packaging and distillation equipment for producing essential oils.

It works closely with Environmental Health and Trading Standards and offers advice on setting up, as well as any assistance needed in achieving optimum results.
