Weaving Machinery to bring expanded product offering to LAMMA
6th April 2021
Opportunities to showcase machinery over the last 24 months have been few and far between, but whilst the exhibition unit slept, Weaving says its design and production team have been busy rolling out new innovative changes to its product lines.
Weaving’s headline act at LAMMA will be its Sabre Direct Tine Drill, which the company says has proved immensely popular since the second generation of this versatile drill was launched at LAMMA 2020.
Since then, Weaving has delivered and set up Sabre drills in every corner of the British Isles. The drill was initially available in 3–6m models but, as of 2022, the first 8m models have rolled off the production line.
The beauty of the Sabre is its simplicity, the manufacturer reckons, making it ideal for farmers who want to make incremental progression from conventional farming to direct drilling. This drill can handle a wide variety of weather and soil conditions.
Front Tank Sabre Drill
Alongside the Sabre, Weaving is showcasing the Front Tank Sabre Drill, a sister offering to its mounted drill which combines a 2,200–2,400 litre hopper with the Sabre toolbar, another popular choice for farmers who want better weight distribution and grain and fertiliser split output. This set-up also allows the option to pair the Front Tank with other toolbars, including the Weaving GD.
GD direct disc drills
Weaving will also be showcasing two popular models of the GD direct disc drill, a 6m trailed and a 3m mounted, alongside newer additions to its drill offering: the IR drill (for inter-row companion crops) and the Fenix Drill (a compact direct disc drill for grassland).
Cultivator range includes new addition
The drills will be complemented by a range of cultivators, including the new DualDisc, designed to run in front of seed drills – like the Sabre or GD – and cut through cover crops and trash, even at high residue levels, and create more tilth in a low disturbance farming system. It’s a neatly designed piece of equipment, with a simple plug-in-and-go setup and easy operation, Weaving says.
If soil compaction is a concern, then the Low Disturbance Top-Soiler is an effective tool for lifting the ground like a carpet and letting air in, before gently setting it down, the company adds. This reduces compaction, improves drainage, and aids worm population all without mixing the soil profile. Again, this machine has been designed with versatility in mind, so there is the option to add an OSR seeding kit, featuring Weaving’s Magnum seeder and double-disc coulters to really maximise the use of this cultivator.
The popular Shortdisc and Subdisc cultivators will also be available to view, alongside the new generation of Grassland Sublift which improves surface drainage by lifting the pan and opening up the root zone, promoting earlier and more productive grass growth while leaving the sward surface virtually undisturbed due to its hydraulic operated full width flat roller.
“Something for everyone”
The Weaving stand offers far more to look at beyond drills and cultivators, the company reckons. Its offering includes a range of flails, hedgecutters, grassland and silaging equipment from tried and tested partners across Europe. This year, it will showcase products from Agrimaster, Samasz and Mammut.
Flails and hedgecutters: Weaving Machinery has been the official UK importer of Agrimaster flails and hedgecutters for over 25 years and credits their time-tested reliability and durability. The range includes every size and style of flail mower to suit every budget, power output and farm size, whether it’s maintaining paddocks, trimming highway verges or clearing forestry, Weaving claims.
Mowers, rakes and tedders: Weaving Machinery has a long history as a stockist for Samasz’s extensive range of affordable and effective drum and disc mowers, rotary rakes, and tedders. The Samasz disc mowers, such as the KDTC, feature the PerfectCUT cutterbar, which delivers a clean cut with every pass, and quick-change knives for convenience of use.
Silaging equipment: A final exciting addition to Weaving’s LAMMA offering this year is a selection of silaging equipment and concrete mixers from Austrian manufacturer Mammut. This innovative brand has developed a line of customer friendly equipment with genuine and practical benefits.
Weaving will be showing the new Silo Kompakt – a silage compaction roller – which promises to deliver rapid and uniform silage compaction, resulting in less feed loss and optimal efficiency and safety. The Silo Bucket is a shear bucket that allows a precise and clean cutting action. Finally, the popular tried and tested Turbo Mix concrete mixer offers uncomplicated and easy use for any construction and renovation work around the farm.
No matter your farm size and type, Weaving Machinery says it has something to offer everyone, backed up by a friendly and customer-focused service team and an extensive stock of spare parts.
