A non-binding Conservative motion against the family farm tax has been voted down by 339 votes to 181.

A new poll of England’s 100 most rural constituencies has shown that Labour is losing the countryside, with voters rejecting the party and turning to Reform over the Budget backlash. 

Farmers and business owners have been invited to join the organisers of November’s farmers’ rally in London later this month for an event that aims to address concerns over the impact of changes to agricultural property relief and business property relief. 

The farming community has expressed its disappointment following news that the British government is cutting spending on campaigns promoting British food and drink producers abroad as well as cancels a scheme aimed boosting take-up of farming grants. 

Campaign group Save British Farming has just confirmed that another farming protest will take place later this month. Farmers will drive their tractors to four capitals on 11th December. 

Amid ongoing fallout from the chancellor’s Autumn Budget, we spoke to Emma Mosey, chair of the Farm Retail Association, about the implications for farm shops.

NFU president Tom Bradshaw met with the Prime Minister to discuss the impact of changes to inheritance tax reliefs. 

Tractors have taken to the streets again, this time in Dover, in the latest protest against the government’s inheritance tax raid on farmers.

Data commissioned by the NFU has shown Labour is not trusted by its 2024 voters on issues surrounding the impact of the Budget on farmers. Changes to inheritance taxation on family farms are unpopular, and perceptions that Labour does not value rural voters as highly as urban ones are building. 

Tomorrow, on 28th November, farmers, land managers as well as countryside and industry workers, along with their families, will descend on Holyrood to peacefully signify the anger and frustration built up in rural Scotland.  

The government has been criticised for temporarily pausing capital grants applications, amid ongoing fallout from the Autumn Budget.

A petition calling for a new general election has surpassed 2,760,000 signatures in just a week.
