Fifteen students of agriculture at Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham have gained nearly £6,000 of financial support from the Education & Personal Development Grant Scheme run by the Newark & Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society. The students will be invited to Nottinghamshire County Show to receive their cheques from Society President William Parente CBE DL, on Sunday 12th May.
Society CEO Adrian Johnston said:
“Nottinghamshire County Show is our Society’s main event. In the last 10 years the society has given over £50,000 of grant support to students of agriculture. We fund these grants from hire of our excellent facilities at Newark Showground. These awards are given in direct support of our charitable purpose; to promote agriculture. It is inspiring to meet these young people entering our industry and a pleasure to help them as they embark on their careers in our crucially important sector.”
The Education & Personal Development Scheme offers grants up to £500 for Nottinghamshire residents who are studying Agriculture or a directly related subject. Applications are also welcome from individuals who seek to develop their knowledge or experience within Agriculture in other ways. Previous awards have been used to attend the Oxford Farming Conference, purchase tools, pay towards farrier and hedge-laying training and attend international congresses.
