Multipurpose cultivator enters new generation
22nd January 2024
Väderstad’s TopDown cultivator is entering a new generation, with the introduction of the iPad-based control system Väderstad E-Control, as well as the possibility to apply prescription map tillage via Isobus Task Control.
Whether it’s adjusting individual working depths, fine-tuning the intensity of discs, tines, levellers, or packers, or even storing different machine configurations for specific field requirements, the new E-Control system simplifies the complexities of modern farming, Väderstad says.
With four pre-set buttons, operators can seamlessly switch between various modes, streamlining their workflow and boosting productivity.
One of the standout features of Väderstad E-Services is its integration of prescription maps, a game-changer for precision agriculture, the manufacturer says.
By operating these maps, farmers can automatically calibrate machine settings based on real-time field conditions, such as soil type and topography. This level of adaptability not only optimises agronomy and working results but also contributes to significant savings, reduced environmental impact, and improved soil health.
Väderstad’s TopDown 400-700 can now be ordered with E-Services as an option.
High intensity, multipurpose cultivator
The TopDown is a high intensity, multipurpose cultivator, performing both a full-scale shallow cultivation and a deep cultivation in one single pass. By adapting the working result to different conditions in the field, TopDown is highly versatile with an “unmatched performance”.
TopDown reduce passes, preserves ground moisture, increases capacity and lowers the establishment costs, according to Väderstad.
Key features include: multiple operations in one pass, high quality discs, and effective mixing and loosening. All Väderstad tine cultivators are also equipped with the MixIn shin as standard which doubles the mixing intensity both in depth and lengthwise.
TopDown has a unique reconsolidation with four different options. During dry weather weight can be transferred from the cultivator to the packer. In humid weather the packer can float with its own weight, and in very humid conditions the packer can either be raised or be completely removed.
Levellers are fitted on a parallelogram, ensuring that the correct working angle is maintained at any depth. To be able to adapt to varying soil conditions, the driver is able to adjust the intensity of the hydraulic levellers with millimetre precision on the move.
Additionally, equipping TopDown with a fertiliser kit allows for fertiliser application together with the tillage operation.
TopDown can also be equipped with the mountable small-seeder BioDrill 360, turning it into a seed drill for fast establishment of small-seeded crops, such as oilseed rape, cover crops or catch crops.
