The duo will embark on the gruelling challenge buoyed by a training programme fuelled by Enriched Eggs, which is set to help rowers build their strength and stamina ahead of the journey.

As part of the partnership, Enriched Eggs will supply the rowers with their premium range of eggs to assist their training, helping to maintain muscle health and boost recovery.

The company explained that its eggs provide an ideal source of protein and are rich in vitamins B12 and D, which are crucial for the physically demanding test ahead.

Addition to exercise

Ruth McGrath from Enriched Eggs added: “We’re thrilled to support these athletes as they take on one of the world’s toughest rowing challenges.

“Our mission is to fuel performance through high-quality nutrition, and we couldn’t think of a better opportunity to demonstrate that than by powering these men across the Atlantic.”

William Lomas and Adam Hardman are scheduled to begin their journey on 12th December 2024, rowing non-stop from San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain to Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour in Antigua & Barbuda.

The men said: “Enriched eggs have been a fantastic addition to our exercise and nutrition plan, particularly with the extra vitamin D that has been a great help for our bone and muscle function.

“Neither of us are what you would call seasoned athletes, but we share a passion for water sports, challenge and adventure, so when the opportunity arose, we both jumped at the chance to participate.

“I mean, more people have climbed Everest! Our strategy is to row fast, stay safe and, importantly, find reasons to laugh along the way.”

The World’s Toughest Row promises to be a thrilling spectacle. The annual race begins on 12th December 2024, with up to 40 teams participating from around the world.

The test of endurance involves rowing for two hours and sleeping for two hours, constantly, 24 hours a day for approximately 60 days.

Each crew member will need to consume 6,000 calories a day and drink 10 litres of water and will still expect to lose on average 12 kg.

Will and Adam will hope to arrive in Antigua in February 2025. Follow their challenger here.
