East Anglia: New machinery dealership opens to fill gap following Suffolk Agri Centre’s closure

A new agricultural machinery dealership has opened in East Anglia to fill the gap left by the closure of Suffolk Agri Centre, which went into liquidation last year.

DJ Agri Services, based near Stowmarket in Suffolk, is a family-run business founded by David and Jenna Filby. The dealership provides vital agricultural and horticultural repair services to the region.

After 17 years working as a mechanic for the Suffolk Agri Centre, Mr Filby saw an opportunity to continue supporting local farmers following the centre’s closure.

He said: “I’ve always had a passion for farming. Growing up, I learned the ropes on a large vegetable farm alongside my father. It’s where I got my hands-on experience with machinery, and it’s stayed with me ever since.”

Dealership dedicated to helping the farming community

The idea for DJ Agri Services took shape just two weeks after the Suffolk Agri Centre shut its doors in March 2024. Determined to fill the gap left behind, the couple pooled their skills to create a business that prioritises reliability and expertise.

While Mr Filby handles the mechanical side, his wife brings a fresh perspective from her equine background and manages the groundcare and administrative aspects of the business. Together, they offer a seamless service that reflects their dedication to helping the farming community.

DJ Agri Services provides on-site breakdown repairs and workshop services for both agricultural and horticultural machinery.

Farmers can rest assured knowing that their machines are in experienced hands. The business carries a wide range of fast-moving stock, focusing on leading brands such as Amazone, and even provides MOTs for machinery.

Looking ahead

Currently operating as a small, family-run venture, Mrs and Mr Filby have ambitious plans for the future.

They said: “We want to expand into our own dedicated premises to better cater to the needs of our customers.

Despite their current size, DJ Agri Services has a far-reaching impact, covering most of East Anglia with their breakdown services.

The business has quickly earned a reputation for reliability and personal touch, hallmarks of the Filbys’ approach.

“We’re passionate about what we do. It’s not just about fixing machines—it’s about keeping farmers farming,” Mrs Filby added.

Supporting local farmers

Opening DJ Agri Services represents not just a new chapter for the Filbys but also a lifeline for East Anglian farmers.

By combining years of mechanical expertise with a deep understanding of the agricultural industry, the team is committed to providing invaluable support to the farming community.
