Farmers sought to help with diversification survey

Free-to-use diversification website The Business Barn is asking farmers and rural landowners to share their experiences.
The inaugural survey aims to gain a better understanding of the diversification industry, spot trends and highlight challenges that diversifying farmers face.
Farmers and rural landowners are being asked to take part in the 30-question study to share their activities, thoughts and opinions about their diversification projects.
A diversification survey by NFU Mutual last year revealed 37% of farmers plan to increase diversification in the next five years, a rise of 3% compared to 2021. Of those farmers who were yet to diversify, 11% said they planned to do so within five years. Nearly half of those currently diversifying said they were doing so to boost farm incomes.
Business Barn is looking for responses from those who have, and have not diversified their farming enterprises.
It is the first of several surveys the firm plans to undertake this year. The findings will be published on www.thebusinessbarn.co.uk later on in 2023.
