Brewery worker ‘badly injured’ following explosion on site in Cumbria  

A brewery worker has suffered serious burns following an explosion at a brewing facility in Cumbria.

A brewery worker has suffered serious burns following an explosion at Tractor Shed Brewing in Workington, Cumbria.

Emergency services were called to Tractor Shed Brewing in Workington on 13th May.

The brewery’s spokesperson confirmed that one of the employees was “badly injured”.

They added that the day was “deeply distressing” for everybody, and the team’s thoughts are with their injured colleague.

Kind wishes and support  

A post on Tractor Shed Brewing social media reads: “Thank you for your kind wishes and messages of support. We ask you to give us time to process everything and to allow the authorities to conduct their investigation.

“We will update you all when appropriate.”

Significant damage

Cumbria Police and the Health and Safety Executive confirmed they are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

The man has been taken to the hospital.

Four fire engines from Workington, Whitehaven, Aspatria and Cockermouth were sent to the scene.

The fire service said: “The building has suffered significant damage in the explosion.

“Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service has not carried out an investigation into the cause as the building is unsafe to enter.”
