Sugar beet farmers reminded to be prepared while working in darkness
13th January 2025
Yellow Wellies and British Sugar have asked sugar beet farmers to follow a few important rules when working during dark winter mornings.
The charity said that remaining visible on the farm is essential when working before sunrise and after sunset.
Yellow Wellies has issued a list of rules for farmers, which includes:
- Checking the lights on your machinery to make sure they all are working.
- Ensuring that barns and outbuildings are well lit. If not, replace the bulbs.
- Checking that your machine starts up and runs correctly.
- Always wearing high-viz.
- Telling someone where you are going if you are working late or getting up earlier than normal.
