AKP Group offers end-to-end complete potato supply chain for British growers

Third-generation potato farmers, Richard Arundel and Bruce Kerr, founded the company in 1999, offering growers a full range of services, from seeds to storage and marketing.

The business has grown to become one of the UK’s largest potato supply chain specialists.

“By 2001, we were growing 400 hectares of potatoes and marketing 50,000 tonnes for external growers.

“A strong philosophy of quality and a vertically integrated structure allowed our business to evolve, and now we deal with all aspects of the produce supply chain.

AKP Group provides storage for 45,000 tonnes of potatoes on its site. The company’s two storage facilities offer efficient, digitally-controlled cold storage with sprout suppressant technology.

The business also moves more than 150,000 tonnes of potatoes every year. In an effort to be as sustainable and efficient as possible, its fleet of twelve branded lorries is tracked by computer to give customers quick, sensible and safe deliveries on time.

The company said that with bulk, curtain-sided within the fleet, AKP Group can service every customer no matter the requirement.
