Market leading varieties from LS Plant Breeding on display at Cereals

The 13th and 14th of June will see market leading LS Plant Breeding Ltd (LSPB) returning to Cereals following their successful first visit in 2022. This year, the company have expanded the size of their stand to showcase a broader range of its varieties.

The high footfall of growers, agronomists and trade visitors to the LS Plant Breeding stand at Cereals Event last year showed great interest in their variety demonstration plots and confirmed the company’s decision to take part in Cereals again in 2023.

This June, LSPB have increased the size of their stand in order to showcase an expanded range of its varieties (Stand 404). The comprehensive series of plots will feature their winter oilseed rape, spring and winter beans, spring combining peas, and spring wheat.

LSPB has a long heritage in winter oilseed rape breeding, with its Turing variety topping the UK AHDB Recommended Lists. Along with Turing, the Vegas variety showcasing the ‘RlmS’ phoma resistance gene with outstanding light leaf spot resistance, plus the Murray variety, which sits at the top of the East/West Recommended List, will head up the range of varieties on display.

The company is equally well known to UK pulse growers for their spring bean portfolio and the varieties will include market leading Lynx, which tops the PGRO Descriptive List Genius, and market expanding LVC (low vicine/convicine) varieties Futura and Victus.

LSPB’s combining peas are at the top or near top of the PGRO List and the plots on show will include Carrington and Butterfly green peas, along with Orchestra yellow pea, plus the new high yield marrowfat pea Takayama.

The market leading plant breeders will also be demonstrating a selection of their candidate varieties for the first time. These include, Zidane RL candidate winter oilseed rape, as well as some very promising coded varieties with exceptional packages of traits which they are evaluating for the future.

LS Plant Breeding Ltd (LSPB) are always looking to the future, with the aim of combining excellence to make a real difference to the UK farming industry. As well as continually developing varieties to help them grow within their existing markets, they are also always trying to develop further.

There are many more promising varieties in the pipeline, ranging from those about to enter official trials, to others that are still tiny seedlings in the breeder’s glasshouse. Therefore, UK growers can look forward to a continuing stream of varieties with improved yield, agronomy and end market outlets.

LSPB look forward to welcoming visitors to their stand and showing you all that they can offer UK growers and the seed trade. Find them on Stand 404.
