With Galmano (fluquinconazole) only available until June 2017, growers should be aware that stockists’ supply for the winter wheat seed treatment will be limited over the coming months.
“Those winter wheat growers with a concern about take-all, should be particularly aware of the reducing Galmano supply. Those wishing to purchase Galmano will need to do so before June 2017, as this is the final date that seed can be treated,” advises Peter Stacey, Bayer’s Seed Treatment Campaign Manager.
“Take-all may be a particular concern this season, with the mild winter, and will now depend on the amount of rainfall between March and early June. The disease survives in the soil of infected cereals, and growers drilling wheat crops in the second and third rotation positions this autumn will have to be careful the disease isn’t carried over.”
Galmano has dual-purpose activity and as well as reducing take-all damage, the treatment also provides early protection against foliar diseases, especially rust.
“Winter wheat growers have favoured Galmano for its ability to increase yields through reduction of take-all. Seed can continue to be treated with Galmano until the end of June 2017 but the supply of product is limited, so ensure you speak to your seed specialist soon.”
