Kentwell Hall’s rare-breeds farm, located in Long Melford, Suffolk, has just confirmed that three of its sheep were killed yesterday, 17th December.

The farm posted on its social media: ‘We just (12 noon today) found three sheep that have been killed by what appears to be out-of-control dogs.

‘Two bear significant attack marks, and the third has had a heart attack. They were in a field next to our avenue but which has no footpath going through it.

‘The sheep were checked at 9.30am this morning and were still warm when found, so must have been killed in the last couple of hours.

‘These were loved animals, and we are devastated by the loss. There is nothing we can do about the animals that have been killed, but please help us to stop this from happening again.’

‘Please keep your dogs under control’

Kentwell Hall has also asked the public to contact the police if they witnessed anything.

They added: ‘We know it’s not all dogs/their owners, but the few are so very damaging to the reputation of all.

‘Someone must have watched their dog/s do this, which is dreadful to consider: out-of-control dogs are dangerous, not just a nuisance.

‘Please, please, please keep your dogs under control. Keep them on a lead when near livestock. Report out-of-control dogs.

‘This is not the first time this has happened here, we would like to hope it is the last.’

The incident happened just two weeks after a pregnant ewe was killed on another Suffolk farm.

The ewe was due to lamb at the beginning of January but unfortunately died, as well as the triplets she was carrying.
