VIDEO: Farm shop worker hit by shoplifter’s car during escape

A family-run farm shop located in North Yorkshire has shared a video of a recent incident that saw a shoplifter driving into a worker who tried to stop him from leaving the premises.

The incident happened at the end of November at Mainsgill Farmshop in Richmond. 

A shop’s employee, Matthew, tried to stop a repeating shoplifter from escaping with stolen goods when he was hit by the car. 

The driver, 58-year-old Alan Lewis, from Goole, has since been arrested and charged with a total of six offences. 

The vehicle was also seized in relation to the offences, North Yorkshire Police confirmed. Mr Lewis is set to appear at York Crown Court on 17th December. 

Mainsgill Farmshop’s team said that the employee was “very shook up” after the incident, but he is now “completely fine”.
