Farmers’ tractor protest set to take place in four capitals on 11th December

Campaign group Save British Farming has just confirmed that another farming protest will take place later this month. Farmers will drive their tractors to four capitals on 11th December.

Save British Farming confirmed that another farming protest will take place on 11th December in London, Cardiff, Belfast and Edinburgh.

The protesters are set to hit London’s streets as well as the centres of Cardiff, Belfast and Edinburgh.

Times and meeting places are set to be announced in due course.

Founder of Save British Farming, Liz Webster, said: “The issues we were protesting about back in March are still with us today. We’ve got even more problems now.

“There’s a decision about an American trade deal, which is a massive problem for British farming. It is unsurvivable. We’re back looking at the horror of chlorinated chicken and hormone-fed beef.

“Obviously the inheritance tax is another assault on farming. What is more, the government has removed or stopped a lot of the farming grants and pulled the funding for promoting British food abroad.

“What we’re seeing is a real aggressive move from this government to end British farming.”

‘We’re on the wrong road’

Ms Webster added that Save British Farming is encouraging everybody to take part in the protests on 11th December.

“We’re inviting anyone because it’s not just farmers who have been impacted by the Budget. Unite with us and fight alongside us to bring change because we’re on the wrong road at the moment.”

On 19th November thousands of British farmers gathered in London to showcase their dissatisfaction with changes to inheritance tax reliefs.

The rally was organised by four farmers, Olly Harrison, Clive Bailye, Martin Williams and Andrew Ward.
