Jeremy Clarkson launches new beer as tribute to British farmers
19th September 2024
Farmer, TV presenter and pub owner Jeremy Clarkson has launched a new beer, which is set to be a tribute to British farmers and their hard work.
Hawkstone brewery, owned by the star of Clarkson’s Farm, has announced the launch of its latest beer, Hawkstone Harvest.
The company explained: “Hawkstone Harvest is our tribute to British harvest time.
“With a golden hue, it’s bursting with flavours of rich kilned malt with a nutty finish.
“We’ve thrown in some classic British Goldings hops for good measure, adding aromas of fresh hay and a touch of honey.
Hawkstone Harvest is available to buy from the brewery’s website. One case includes 12 bottles and costs £32.
Recently, another Clarkson beer, Hawkstone Premium, has been named the best lager in England at the World Beer Awards 2024.
Controversial prices
Mr Clarkson has recently purchased a pub in Cotswolds. After weeks of renovation works, the owner announced that the venue will be called The Farmer’s Dog and announced its grand opening for 23rd August.
The Clarkson’s Farm star said: “I also wanted a room I could turn into a clubhouse, which, on wet weekdays, would provide a mental health forum and a free pint for the nation’s farmers.
‘I wanted dogs and families round the fire. And a restaurant where absolutely everything had been grown or reared in Britain. Even the salt, pepper and wine. I had even decided there’d be no coffee or Coca-Cola.”
However, some of his guests complained about the prices of dishes and drinks served in the pub.
A pint at The Farmer’s Dog costs around £5.50, while food ranges from £5 for a sausage roll to £19 for a steak pie with mash and Hawkstone gravy.
While talking to the media, Mr Clarkson’s advisor, Charlie Ireland, explained that the prices are highly competitive for the Cotswolds area.
He added: ‘We aimed for a bit cheaper than the local area because the pubs are sort of renowned for high prices. We’ve tried to make it affordable for people,’ Metro reported.
