Farmers asked to choose nine AHDB Sector Council members
12th September 2024
Levy payers are being asked to vote to ratify nine appointments across AHDB’s four Sector Councils, following an open and competitive selection process.
With the roles having been advertised on the AHDB website, external job boards and the farming press, voting is open between Monday 21st October and Friday 1st November.
Levy payers will be able to vote in each of the sectors that they pay a levy for, AHDB confirmed.
Nine representatives needed
Sector Council members are primarily levy payers from each sector. Their selection is based around the skills they have and the ability to provide balance across the different levy-paying supply chain elements in each sector.
Those that are selected are then confirmed through this levy payer ratification vote.
Some councils also have an ‘independent’ member (i.e. a non-levy payer) who can contribute with additional skills such as finance or sector relevant supply chain experience.
Each Sector Council member will serve for a term of three years, with a maximum of two terms. They will receive £256.25 per day for up to two days a month.
The nine members to be ratified are:
- Beef and lamb – four
- Cereals and oilseeds – one
- Dairy – four
- Pork – one
Ahdb added that the voting process is being independently managed by a specialist election company – UK Engage.
The results will be confirmed and communicated to levy payers in early November.
