Dream to create finest single malt

The English Distillery was founded in 2006 by farmer James Nelstrop. His goal was to create England’s finest single malt whisky.

The distillery is now led by Mr Nelstrop’s son, Andrew, who continues to follow in his father’s footsteps.

The family-run business specialises in making whisky in the old-fashioned way, using slow processes, traditional equipment and local ingredients in Roudham, Norfolk.

Milestone for the industry

Andrew Nelstrop, chairman of The English Distillery, said: “While one hopes to win an award, winning the big one is the realisation of our founder’s sole goal.

“The English Sherry Cask is a superb single malt whisky that fulfils our founder’s single ambition when building The English Distillery – to make world-class whisky. This is a super way to celebrate our 18th year of whisky distilling and a testament to our distillers work.

“As the English Whisky category continues to grow with pace, this award is another milestone for our whisky industry.”

World’s best single malt whisky has a 46% abv and costs £59. It is currently sold out.
