First Milk announces further milk price increase
3rd April 2024
First Milk has just announced that its milk price will increase by 0.75p per litre starting next month.
This increase means that the British dairy co-operative is taking its manufacturing standard litre price to 39.5p per litre, including member premium.
The raise will be introduced from 1st May 2024. The milk price was also increased by 0.75p per litre at the beginning of April 2024.
Mike Smith, farmer director and vice-chairman of First Milk, said: “Given the ongoing wet weather and the challenge that brings to our members, I hope that this further increase in milk price will be welcomed.
“Milk markets appear to be fairly balanced at present, with demand remaining under pressure but that being offset by continuing challenges around global milk supplies.”
