Quick but thorough checks recommended before spring spraying

Knight is well-known for innovations such as its MAXImizer technology, which minimises boom pipework for faster response and minimal retained fluid. The firm’s latest MAXImizer PRO development reduces boom pipework by 21% over its previous MAXImizer system.
Regardless of machine type, checking over key areas could save sprayer owners and operators from problems later in the season, suggests the company. Proper preparation ahead of winter storage should have included full drainage of all plumbing, followed by circulation of antifreeze, with circulation taking place at regular intervals during the winter months.
At the same time as the engine and sprayer pump is being run, operators should take the time to charge up the battery on a self-propelled machine and operate the air conditioning to prevent development of moisture and bacteria.
Ahead of spring use, drain the antifreeze and ensure filters and nozzles are clean before filling the machine with water, and then run it up to operating pressure, checking all connections for leaks. With freezing weather just as likely right through the early months of the year, ensure antifreeze is used again as required.
Knight manufactures self-propelled and trailed sprayers with capacities of 3,500–6,000 litres and booms up to 40m, plus 1,300–1,900 litre mounted machines with booms up to 30m, and now also offers a new Red Line entry-level mounted sprayer range sourced from Belgian partner Beyne, with capacities from 600–1,500 litres and 12–28m boom widths, incorporating Knight’s MAXImizer E fluid control system.
