Online event to reveal the future direction of AHDB in November
6th October 2022
Sector councils will unveil their new strategies for tackling industry challenges during next month’s online event, where farmers can learn about the future direction of the AHDB.
Following the AHDB’s ‘Shape the Future’ campaign where levy payers shared their concerns regarding the future of agriculture, sector councils have defined new priorities for Beef & Lamb, Cereals & Oilseeds, Dairy and Pork.
These will be outlined during the ‘Delivering the Future of Farming’ online event on 10th November 2022, where levy payers will be able to engage in discussions and explore how their levy will be invested over the next five years.
The event will feature industry-led panel debates and sector-specific breakout sessions that will allow levy payers to discuss the biggest challenges facing agriculture with fellow farmers and spokespeople from across the industry. Moreover, there will be opportunities to ask questions about the new strategies and confer with sector council representatives and AHDB staff.
Finally, the AHDB senior team will be available to answer questions about how the organisation will deliver the future of farming via an open Q&A forum.
Reputation scored highly across livestock sectors during the ‘Shape the Future’ campaign and will be among the primary themes in the new sector strategies. Meanwhile, research and market insight has been identified as a key priority for cereals and oilseeds producers.
Tim Rycroft, chief executive officer at the AHDB, commented: “Thousands of levy payers had a say in ‘Shape the Future’. Now we are taking the next step in delivering our promise to put levy payers at the heart of everything we do.
“This event will be a chance for levy payers to hear from their own sector council representatives on the work that will be prioritised by AHDB.”
Other than the results from the Shape the Future’ event, sector councils have also considered financial constraints such as rising inflation, changes in levy income and a change to AHDB’s VAT status when determining main areas of work.
