Years of experience in drier systems
6th December 2021
Graintek was established in 2009 by Kenneth Addison and Phillip Crow.
Prior to the formation of Graintek, both Kenneth and Phillip had a wealth of experience in the grain industry and along with their colleague John Fyfe, the three key members have over 100 years combined experience in the field. Initially offering grain dryers and handling equipment, this has evolved to include tray driers/stirrer driers, servicing and maintenance, installation, parts and much more.
The Company manufactures a wide range of grain driers from 200–400t/hour. Graintek believes that its product specification and quality is second to none. All its driers are built to an industrial specification and the company says its performance difference is notable, as its standard configuration equates to optional extras on equipment manufactured by its competitors.
Graintek installs as standard a Weishaupt 3 stage digital burner – which it refers to as “the Rolls-Royce of burners”. The company designed its own Modbus converter, where output power, fuel position, air position, flame signal, alarm and error codes can be controlled and monitored. Complete with a separate fuel usage and diagnostics page all tied into an alarm system, four sets of pneumatically-operated cooling doors can automatically adjust to ambient temperature conditions, so that the drier runs at its maximum efficiency. Sixteen temperature sensors monitor the drier, plus Graintek fits inverters to control the fans and intake system. The fans come complete with silencers.
Driers are fully insulated and clad with profiled plastic-coated sheet steel with a choice of cladding colour, complete with a weather roof on the outside models. For health and safety, internal platforms and ladders are provided every 2m for cleaning and maintenance. The company’s PLC and computer control screen ranges from 21–65in depending on the size of plant, enabling you to see and control the whole plant from one page.
The touchscreen systems combine easy-to-follow graphics and data representation with fault monitoring, grain store temperature monitoring, 24/7 support, remote diagnostics, mobile phone control when out in the field and much more. Graintek says it was the first grain drier company to introduce the PLC system and touch screen. The company’s only optional extras are its built-in weighing system, advanced moisture controller and dust fans.
Within the last 10 years, Graintek has sold and installed 85 dryers. The company also prides itself in giving a first-class back-up service: you can call 24/7 and, if it can’t be resolved over the phone or via remote access, a representative can be with you in person in 1–3 hours.
Graintek says it is always striving to keep ahead of the field, with five Lamma and three Royal Highland Show awards for innovation – beating over 70 others for the top Lamma award in 2012.
