As the UK’s centre of excellence for peas and beans, the PGRO has a long and highly valued track record of providing authoritative, up to date information and project work based on solid, reliable research.

The PGRO is a non-statutory levy body supported by its grower members, the UK trade and also by a substantial amount of outside funding for our research work. This is carried out both on its own and in partnership with the UK, European and worldwide research and commercial organisations.

Jim Scrimshaw joined PGRO in 1988 and, having developed expertise in herbicides, has been the primary contact for those wishing to carry out commercial agronomy trials at PGRO for all those years.

Jim Scrimshaw will now focus on assisting his wife with her plant nursery and landscaping business.

PGRO chief executive Roger Vickers said: “All at PGRO will be sad to see Jim go and we thank him for his dedication, enthusiasm and support during his career. He will be greatly missed and we wish him well.”
