An overview of the Massey Ferguson hay and forage fleet

Massey Ferguson’s new MF DM FQ front-mounted mowers are equipped with new six- or seven-disc beds. Mounted using a novel, pendulum mounting system that incorporates the proven TurboLift suspension, the design ‘pulls’ the machine through the crop and provides optimum ground following.

Offering working widths of 3.12m with six discs or 3.62m with seven discs. All can be supplied with or without a tine rotor conditioner, enabling customers to select the best system for their crops and conditions.

All are close-mounted directly to the front linkage, without an A frame. This keeps the machine close to the tractor, improves stability and reduces the overhang.

A novel pendulum system suspends the mower on a series of linkages, which connect to the front of the frame. This effectively ‘pulls’ the mower.

The linkages are connected to a centre pivot, which provides unrivalled ‘three dimensional’ suspension from the well-proven TurboLift hydro-pneumatic damping. This allows the disc bed to ride over the ground, closely following ground contours – from -6 degrees uphill to +15 degrees downwards.

This advanced system allows operators to precisely set the ground pressure to enable the mower to glide over the ground, to closely follow contours, protect the sward and improve the forage quality.

To compensate for working across slopes the pendulum enables it to move +/- 13 degrees side-to-side. An optional hydraulic side-shift facility provides up to 20cm of movement for greater manoeuvrability.

Replacing blades is simple thanks to the well proven quick blade change system.

The MF DM 316 FQ KC (front mower) can be perfectly partnered with the DM 316 TL V KC (rear vertical lift mower) making it an excellent combination.

MF Tedders – A little help for Mother Nature

Of course, farmers have utilised nature’s resources – like the wind and sun – for as long as seeds have been planted in the ground. Today, you can accelerate Mother Nature’s gifts by spreading the crop with a professional-grade Massey Ferguson TD Series tedder.

Seventeen models are available, providing widths from 4.5–12.7m. Each ones offers easily adjustable spreading angles to adapt to differing conditions.

MF twin-rotor rakes

Massey Ferguson offers six models in its twin rotor configuration from 6.6–10m rake. Unique to its twin rotor rake is the steer guard system giving a simple maintenance-free steering. It is adjustable without tools via one hand movement, allowing for simple operation with the option of hydraulic vari width.

Massey says the rotor gives excellent ground following through its cardanic suspension and its jet effect results in no forage contamination and no damage to the tines. And the adjustable cam track as standard is easily adjusted to give the perfect swath formation in all crop conditions.

Tine arms are made from heavy-duty steel with cam protection on every tine arm. Again giving the operator peace of mind when working.

The firm also offers from single rotor all the way up to four rotor rakes.

MF balers

The Massey Ferguson range of round balers is becoming increasingly popular with farmers and contractors alike, the firm says.

Meanwhile fixed chamber balers come as standard with 2.25m pickup. Clean raking is achieved by five rows of heavy-duty, 5,6mm tines. Increased performance is achieved due to high rotation speed. It also offers optional pickup widths of 2m or 2.4m. A crop press roller is standard on all balers.

The new, snail shaped baler chamber is designed to produce constant bale rotation allowing high density, excellent uniform bales, Massey explains. The rear door of the chamber is driven from both sides of the baler, resulting in longer component life and reduced power consumption. Tailgate locking is fitted on all balers as standard, resulting in high bale density without the need for hydraulic pressure.

The manufacturer offers a comprehensive range of chopping options and each baler can be ordered with a knife bank option of 13, 17 or 25 knives.

The E-link control bale monitor incorporates a wide range of functions resulting in the operator not having to leave the cab. Bale density and amount of net applied are some of the options the operator can set from the handset.

Massey’s latest introduction comes courtesy of a new facelift for the variable chamber round balers range: the MF RB 4160V and the MF RB 4180V series.

These variable chamber round balers share a common platform and produce bales up to 1.60m or 1.80m in diameter respectively and feature patented bale formation system with Constant Pressure System (CPS) that combines spring and hydraulic action, producing dense and uniform bales.
