The Fertiliser Industry Assurance Scheme (FIAS), in collaboration with the Agricultural Industries Confederation (FIAS), National Counter Terrorism Security Office and NFU has developed an infographic video presentation on safely storing and handling fertilisers on farms.
It is encouraging its Members to bring the video to the attention of farmers in order to encourage best practice when it comes to storing fertilisers securely and safely on farm.
In just under two minutes the video covers topics ranging from the need for security to the correct way to stack fertiliser bags; from the correct tine for lifting bags to the correct way to move bags.
“The theme of the video is ‘Think safe, be safe’ says AIC Fertiliser Sector Head Jo Gilbertson. “Keeping fertiliser secure is crucial, while ensuring best practice in storage and handling big bags is vital for the health and safety of operators and all around the farm. “We are grateful to CF Fertilisers for help in creating the video.”
