The National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) has announced it is to scrap its AGM following incidents taking place outside of official activities earlier this year.
The National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) has announced it is to scrap its AGM following incidents taking place outside of official activities earlier this year.
In a statement issued by the NFYFC, it claims that it is bringing its programme of activities more in line with its charitable aims to meet the needs of rural young people. It then goes on to say; “Following a review, it was agreed that the successes and celebrations inside the event venue are being overshadowed by incidents taking place outside of the organised official NFYFC activities.”
The AGM is a long-standing traditional event in the Young Farmers’ calendar, attracting more than 5,000 members every year from the UK. When started 50 years ago, its aim was to showcase the achievements of members, hold national competition finals and to host its Annual General Meeting.
