Farmer’s ‘Only Fools and Horses’ lambing song goes viral
24th February 2025
Yorkshire farmer Tom Carlisle wanted to put a smile on other farmers’ faces with his parody lambing track, inspired by the theme song for Only Fools and Horses.
A parody lambing song has gone viral, racking up hundreds of thousands of views on social media, after farmer Tom Carlisle penned the track inspired by the theme song for Only Fools and Horses.
He told BBC Radio York that he had the idea for the song when he was writing his list of supplies for lambing:
“I was reading through this list and I was thinking ‘stomach tube, vet lube’ – that sounds a bit like the Only Fools and Horses introduction where Del Boy’s listing all the strange things that he’s selling on his dodgy market stall.”
He added that he wanted to “raise a smile on people’s faces”.
Blue spray, lots of hay, calcium to save the day
The song begins: “We’ve got some glucose, Zactran, Betamox and Metacam, long gloves, vet lube, iodine and stomach tube. Blue spray, lots of hay, calcium to save the day.’
Followed later on by: “Cause we get no sleep, we’re lambing sheep; get no sleep, we’re lambing sheep.”

Tom wished farmers luck who are starting or due to start lambing, writing on Instagram:
‘Early starts, late finishes, blood, sweat and tears. Lambing time is a rollercoaster of emotions, taken on by farmers the length and breadth of the country to ensure the save arrival and survival of this year’s lambs.
‘But despite the lack of sleep, the physical and mental strain, the high demands of the job – it’s also one of the best times of the year – seeing fit healthy lambs running around the field in recognition of the hard work that goes into producing them.”
