What’s on

The organisers said that the Royal Three Counties Show is renowned as one of the largest annual agricultural celebrations in the UK and features a whopping 8,000 animals across the long weekend.

Appearing at the show for the first time this year will be furry friends and their knowledgeable human companions from the award-winning Atwells Farm Park in Worcestershire, providing a new animal encounter and interactive learning area.

Visitors of all ages can get up close and hands-on with friendly farmyard animals and learn more about their lives and care.

Another new feature at this year’s show is the Pig Village. This dedicated area will celebrate the British pig industry and offer engaging educational experiences for visitors, including live displays, interactive breed showcases, and insights into the world of pig farming.

A brand-new Home and Heritage area will celebrate rural crafts, heritage preservation, alongside traditional and artisan skills across the three days of the Royal Three Counties Show.

This new zone will feature live demonstrations celebrating heritage crafts and artisan processes that deserve to be conserved. The Home and Heritage area will also feature experts sharing tips and insights across a range of related subjects, the organisers explained.

Another exciting new feature at this year’s Royal Three Counties Show is Murf’s Burger School, hosted by Herefordshire’ s very own award-winning chef Anthony ‘Murf’ Murphy, one of four founders of the increasingly popular independent restaurant group, The Beefy Boys.

As well as hosting a BBQ competition for local chefs on Saturday 14th June, Mr Murf will also run a fun parent and child Burger School on Sunday 15th June. In addition, a special burger will be created in celebration of the Royal Three Counties Show and will feature on the menu at all four The Beefy Boys restaurants across May and June, and will be available for visitors to tuck into at the show.

This year’s Royal Three Counties Show will see a return of the Poultry Show for the first time in 6 years. Over 50 classes of poultry and waterfowl will be on display, including classes for juniors. Alongside this will be an Egg Show and traders offering housing solutions and care equipment.

Countryside shopping is another big draw for visitors to the Royal Three Counties Show, and this year will include a brand-new Fairfax and Favor area, hosted in the luxurious Royal Parade. ‘Highlight of the summer’

Alice Arnold, show lead for the Royal Three Counties Show, said: “We are very excited to bring a range of new features to the Royal Three Counties Show this year, which has been taking place for over a century now, and has become a much-loved event in the calendar.

“The hard work of over 1,000 people make the show happen every year, from stewards to judges, committee members to volunteers, and with their help and support we are thrilled that the Royal Three Counties Show has been awarded ‘Rural Event of the Year’ by the National Association of Outdoor Events in 2024.

“This year we’re predicting to welcome over 90,000 visitors and 8,000 animals to the show across the three days, as well as awarding over 9,500 rosettes across over 1,500 competitions and classes.

“This year’s Royal Three Counties Show promises to be a highlight of the summer.”
