YAMS 2025 expands with new forestry section

The Yorkshire Agricultural Machinery Show (YAMS) has added a forestry section for the first time alongside an increasing number of new exhibitors at the 2025 event.

The Yorkshire Agricultural Machinery Show (YAMS) has added a forestry section for the first time for the 2025 event.
The Yorkshire Agricultural Machinery Show will take place on 5th February 2025 at York Auction Centre.

The free entry show draws around 15,000 visitors to the 30-acre site at York Auction Centre in Murton, and this year for the first time, will showcase a wide range of forestry businesses at a period of increasing interest in the sector.

The Autumn Budget included a commitment to provide up to £400 million in England over the next two years for tree planting and peatland restoration while a task force involving the forestry ministers from all four nations in the UK has been set up.

The forestry section joins 20 new exhibitors already lined up to make their debuts on Wednesday, 5th February 2025, joining around 200 stands featuring every major agricultural machine dealership across the region.

The forestry exhibitors are set to cover a wide range of businesses, including the Forestry Commission which will be offering advice on incentives for woodland creation and the available existing grant schemes.

The exhibitors will also showcase expertise in ground care and arboriculture along with timber auctions and forestry services, including wood chipping, mulching, clearance, management, felling, replanting works, harvesting, clear-fell sites and thinning.

The forestry machinery on display will feature a Valtra T Series forestry tractor with a mounted Kesla crane and log grab, exhibited by BRM Ltd.

Other exhibits include timber trailers, stump grinders, woodchippers, firewood processors, log splitters, and saws showcased by exhibitors, including Ufkes Greentec UK, Ryedale Forestry, Form & Forestry Ltd, Timber Auctions, GGM Group, and T&S Vicary.

Resilience and determination for the future of farming industry

Richard Tasker, YAMS founder and organiser, said: “Despite the challenges of weather conditions and the Autumn Budget, the agriculture industry remains vibrant, and YAMS reflects this positivity.

“We are delighted to introduce a forestry section to YAMS showcasing a diverse range of exhibitors, from small businesses and groundcare specialists to logging enterprises, timber auctions and the Forestry Commission.

“This year has been incredibly difficult for the farming sector, and despite all the difficulties, I am delighted to see our exhibitors and supporters demonstrating such resilience and determination for the future of our industry.

“YAMS continues to thrive with new exhibitors joining our extensive list of show favourites and as a business and technology agricultural show, we deliver exactly what we promise, and we’re proud of that.”

Mr Tasker added that YAMS is designed to reflect what is going on in the farming world, not just through the machinery businesses but in all sectors of agriculture.

“YAMS great strength is that on one specific date in the farming calendar, all of the manufacturers’ representatives, and many of their managing directors, are on hand to explain the benefits of new machines and equipment and how they can help the farming sector,” he concluded.

As well as the latest state-of-the-art machinery from leading manufacturers displayed by local dealerships, the show also offers a prime opportunity for small businesses and bespoke engineers to display their products to a targeted audience and gain valuable exposure, the organisers confirmed.

Launched in 2014, the free entry event takes place on the edge of the City of York with excellent transport links and continues to grow in popularity.

The Grimston Bar Park & Ride service is free of charge, with buses running every 15 minutes and dropping visitors right at the show entrance. Additionally, there is free onsite parking for up to 3,500 vehicles, with adjacent overflow parking available to accommodate extra visitors.

The Yorkshire Agricultural Machinery Show will take place on 5th February 2025 from 8.30am to 4.30pm at York Auction Centre, Murton, York.
